CACHE Level 1 Award in Getting Started in a Pre-school Setting (GSPS)

Pre-schools are essential to the communities that they serve. It is in pre-schools through playing and talking, that children learn the skills that they will use throughout the rest of their life.

Who is the qualification for?

The CACHE Level 1 Award in Getting Started in a Pre-school Setting is a great way for people without qualifications to formally recognise their skills. The award is intended for people who have just started working in a pre-school setting, those working unqualified in a pre-school setting and parent helpers and volunteers in a pre-school setting.

About the qualification

The award is made up of one unit - Getting Started in a Pre-school Setting.

It covers the following areas:

  • The role of pre-schools as centres of learning for children and parents.
  • Basic details about what is involved in the management of pre-schools.
  • A basic description of what and how children learn in pre-schools.
  • What pre-schools do to provide an environment that supported children’s learning and development.
  • The ways through which children support the adults in the pre-school setting can support children’s learning and development.

How will I be assessed?

You will have only one assessment – a multi-choice question paper. During your learning you will get support to enable you to feel confident when taking the paper.

Progression from this qualification

If you enjoy this award you may like to progress to the CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Pre-school Practice which is intended for those who wish to or are working in a supervised position in a pre-school.

Taught Sessions

The course is taught over 1 term of eight 2 and a half hour sessions.

Cost of the course

The CACHE Level 1 Award in Getting Started in Pre-school Practice costs Dhs 2,000 including CACHE registration, comprehensive course handbook and Award.
